Xerocon 2015

Last week we packed up and headed south of the boarder to chilly Melbourne for Xerocon 2015. We joined other accountants and finance professionals to hear about (among other things) loads of exciting announcements across the two day event.

Overall, Xero in 2015 and beyond is headed for an even more seamless and efficient platform. They truly have the business owner in mind and have committed to removing as much manual and administrative processes as possible.

Check out these 5 exciting updates from Xerocon, set to hit your Xero file over the next 90 days.

Xero partners with Adobe

No more manual / hand signing BAS and other financial documents! Xero’s announcement of its partnership with Adobe means that your BAS can be electronically signed in the click of a button, saving time, money and trees.

Xero partners with Dropbox

Needing past documents will be a breeze following the announcement of Xero’s partnership with Dropbox. Past tax returns and other financial documents will be set up in Dropbox providing a space to collaborate, store and share important documents.

Employee portal goes mobile

Employees can now download the Employee portal app for iPhone and Android making it even easier for employees to submit time sheets, leave requests and view their pay slips on the go. Great for a mobile workforce!

Lending and Insurance – direct from Xero

Going to a bank is painful for businesses. Xero’s new agreement with Moula gives businesses the ability to share their financial data with Moula and then Moula can make an instant lending decision so businesses can receive same-day loans.

Xero’s extended partnership with NAB will also now let businesses make enquiries about new business loans from their accounting dashboard and automatically share financial data. Another agreement with CGU Insurance will allow CGU business insurance quotes direct through Xero.

Auto-reminders for overdue invoices

The ‘auto reminders’ feature will arrive in Xero within the next 90 days. Xero will now have the functionally to automatically send reminder emails when an invoice is overdue.

These emails can include links to a PDF of the relevant invoice, and there is an option to exclude invoices below a certain value. There’s also the capability to send a reminder just before an invoice is due, to help head off the old “sorry, I’ve lost your invoice” excuse.
