Beautiful Because is an eco chic beauty store and guide that stocks certified organic, natural and non-toxic brands from Australia and around the world. Founded in 2013 by Nina Weston, Beautiful Because is fast-becoming a leading natural beauty retailer.
The situation
Nina approached 542 Partners in 2013 at just the right time. She was starting the Beautiful Because business and wanted to do it correctly from the beginning (our type of client!).
As a start-up business, Nina needed help choosing the right business structure, registering the business and for GST, as well as help getting set up on a accounting software and integrating her current online payment gateways and platforms like Shopify and PayPal.
The process
As with most start-ups, the process can be quite daunting, but Stu and the team walked Nina through everything from start to finish.
First on the agenda was to set up the business structure correctly. Business structures are important to get right from the beginning. The way a business is set up can impact; how profits and losses are shared, who can make important decisions, have tax implications and legal obligations and costs.
After the structure was established Stu lodged all the necessary paperwork to register the company and GST.
Then came the tech stuff. Stu (the 542 tech head) reviewed several accounting systems and presented Xero as the best option. The flexibility of Xero meant that Beautiful Because could enjoy seamless integration with their online store Shopify and PayPal. They also use pin-payments and harvest, which are add-on providers to Xero. Not to mention they have real time access and reporting on the current state of the business: all-important factors when you’re an online store.
The result
With everything in order, Beautiful Because was set up for success from the start. They now have a flourishing business, with a solid foundation for continued sales growth. Nina’s investment in the right systems and advisors will ensure long term and sustainable growth well into the future.
